My observations regarding child rearing in the Philippines

A good way of taking a closer look at a county’s culture is by looking at how children are being raised up. Children reflect and represent a country’s culture at its rawest form—a reflection of how their society mould and form their future generations. Their upbringing is not only directly influenced by their families, but by the cultural traditions and surroundings from which they belong. Vappu: Celebrating May Day Finnish style

The Finns celebrate May Day differently. Instead of demonstrations in the streets, the Finns go to the parks and have outdoor picnics. The reason it is different is because it is more a celebration to mark the start of summer and “warmth” rather than labor related stuff. They call it Vappu. It is a tradition to celebrate Vappu with sparkling wines and balloons. In Helsinki, where we’re from, the park of choice is at Kaivopuisto. Read More…
